The underwriting process for life insurance is far more involved than processing annuity applications, therefore our marketing team and life case managers work closely with you and/or your assistant throughout the process. All life insurance applications received are reviewed first by our life marketers. Their review process is meant as an initial underwriting review to check for any signs that a case may not be approved as applied for, as well as to check to ensure the proper illustration, if applicable, is included. Our case managers then take over and work with you directly as your case progresses through underwriting. All questions or requirements should be sent directly to your case manager.
Our case managers track all APS requests made by the carriers. In some instances, we will order the APS records directly from the doctor or hospital at dmi's expense. This value added service has proven to be invaluable in expediting the underwriting process.

There are some important rules that help ensure your life insurance cases are underwritten efficiently.
- Review the application to make sure all questions are answered clearly including
all doctors' contact information
- Be sure to have the correct individual sign (owner/insured/trustee)
- Check the underwriting guidelines for your case on www.dmi.com
- Ensure all other required forms are included (e.g. HIPAA, Financial Forms)
- Schedule your client's exam (There is a list of preferred vendors on www.dmi.com.)
- Set your clients expectations regarding the underwriting process and time requirements
